A member asked:

What/how can i know what the emotional needs are of a person with dementia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Respect and love: Their needs are fairly universal - to be treated with dignity and respect, with as much autonomy as possible, providing as much opportunity to allow them to contribute and care for others in ways possible, to encourage their strengths and promote self-esteem in spite of losses, validation of their experience and the variety of emotions they may express and most importantly they need to be loved.
