Depends: End stage dementia usually means the individual can no longer nourish them selves by mouth and are completely dependent on others for care. Most people with end stage dementia die lf illness related to infection or complications associated with immobility or swallowing difficulties. If one can no longer eat or drink and there is no artificial nutrition or hydration, death usually occurs within 2 wk.
