Gravity is working: If your mom is making only 1000 ml of urine in 24 hours, she is probably accumulating fluid in her body in between dialysis sessions. The fluid distributes based on which body part is lowest. When she stands, her feet are lowest and the fluid drops to them. When she lies down, the lungs become low too, fluid travels to them and she may have trouble breathing. Just think of where gravity works.
