Treatment of myopia: You cannot decrease the amount of myopia. Iit appears that you have 8 diopters of nearsightedness (myopia). At age 21 it is likely that this will not increase. You should have your retinas checked yearly since people with your degree of myopia have a higher likelihood of retinal abnormalities. Refractive surgery may be able to decrease or eliminate your need for glasses or contact lenses.
