Fairly safe: Unisom is an antihistamine like Benadryl or diphenhydramine. It is fairly safe. However, if used in high doses or over a long time, it may cause memory problems, dizziness, constipation and urinary retention in the elderly. The generic form doxylamine is used with Vitamin B6 to treat morning sickness during pregnancy in a prescription medication.
