Unclear: It sounds like you may have experienced some damage to a sensory nerve in the area of your operation. It may improve over time but it may not ever completely heal.

It should get better: It appears that the chin sensory nerve has been effected by the surgery. Nerves over time makeup for sensory loss by growth of new nerves into the numb area. If it continues after a year or so you should consult with your surgeon to get his opinion.
