Scar Tissue: It is not unusual to feel a hard area of scar tissue within a wound such as you describe. The scar will fade and flatten out over the next six months.

Nerve damage: Just to the side of the chin, a nerve exits the bone and gives sensation to lip and part of chin on same side. It is possible that the nerve got damaged or sustained some trauma. The lump that you feel may be swelling pushing on the nerve. You should have an oral surgeon take a look. There can be many options to do to help and the earlier the better.
