Ask your doctor: Mri evidence of lumbar spondylosis can be seen on 80% of patients older than 40 years, & often is without symptoms or significance. It refers to stiffening of the bony building blocks of the spine (vertebrae) through degenerative changes in the spine by bone spurs or narrowing intervertebral discs. It can cause pain & neurological symptoms. Prevention is unknown but symptoms can be minimized.

Arthritis: Basically spondylosis is a term used to describe degnerative changes to the spine. While this usually applies to the joints it can also be used to include the discs as well. This is part of the aging process and nothing to worry about if you are not in pain.
