Bile reflux: Hida scan uses isotope injected intravenously then extracted from bloodstream by liver excreted through bile ducts, stored in gb eventually into duodeum. Duodenogastric Redux is bile going from duodenum back into stomach, sometimes causing bile gastritis. 83% high ejection fraction in some patients reported to cause symptoms releived by gb removal. Additional studies needed.

See below: A high gallbladder ejection fraction (ef) is typically thought to be a good sign but there are debates whether a very high ef may be problematic. The importance of entero-gastric bile reflux is unclear. It has been implicated in some studies to be related to gastritis or to be the reason some patients continue to have significant gastroesophageal reflux despite adequate treatmet.

Enterogastric reflux: Medical community considers a gallbladder efection fraction of more than 35-40% as normal. It is not clear however what is the significance of a very high ef, although it has been reported that patients with hyperkinetic gb may be reliefed from their symptoms after cholecystectomy, but this is still a debate in litterature. Bile reflux into the stomach may cause biliary gastritis and symptoms.
