Many possibilities: Could be a viral infection, acid reflux disease, dental problem, etc. If this keeps up very long, see an ENT doctor.

1st Cranial Nerve: Did you have any sort of blow to the head, whiplash injury or sudden movement of your skull? The nerve that transmits the sense of smell, the olfactory nerve, also provides a large part of the sense of taste and can be damaged by the injuries above.
