Uterine rupture: Uterine rupture occurs in <1% of women who attempt vaginal birth after cesarean. While that percentage is low, the effect if it occurs can be great, including permanent injury to or death of the baby, and maternal hysterectomy. So a lot depends on the reason for your first cesarean, and how likely that reason is to reccur. Also, not all hospitals are set up for safe vbac. Talk to your doctor.
