Depends: Where when how many? Posterior rib fractures even with flail portion can be pretty stable and protected. Anterior 2-4 rib segments are quit mobile and additional trauma could puncture lung or underlying tissue. If 2 months or so, probably stable enough to work. Generally if it hurts stop.
