Might be a bone!: Where your rib cage meets in front, at the bottom, there's a bone called the xiphoid process that sticks down. In some cases it can move or twist and become painful--or stick out more. Sometimes women notice this after delivering a baby. If your hard spot is lower than this bone, there are other explanations, but you should see your doctor for an evaluation.
