Get to the doctor! other causes could be one of the rheumatoid arthitides which could be doing permanent damage to your joint. Subtle injury to the bursae around the knee could also present this way. But usualy with a history of strain or injury. Without such, dangerous arthritis is the culprit so do not delay!
