A member asked:

I had a total knee replacement about a year and a half ago and my knee still won't work and on the side it is always red , swollen and in extreme pain . that's on the inter side of my right knee . could this be the cause of me not being able to walk?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Swelling & redness are a sign of inflammation which would cause pain on knee motions. Your orthopedic surgeon should examine your knee for diagnosis of the cause of the inflammation and for proper treatment. A loose prosthesis has to be ruled out, also. Appropriate testing will be done.
