When dealing with schizophrenic episodes, is it common to realize the hallucinations are not real, whether or not those are perceived as true?

Yes: I have known schizophrenic patients who, after many years' treatment, realized their hallucinations were not "real" even though still perceiving them. The voices may be chattering, but the person is able to leave them in the background and go about his/her business. For other patients, the voices might completely quiet.

Not common: Usually those who suffer from schizophrenia do not realize the hallucinations are not real while they are going on.
