Yes: Appendicitis is an emergency. It would need to be removed right away to prevent the infection from spreading - symptoms start at abdominal pain, nausea and fever that gradually worsen over time. You may not be able to pass gas or have bowel movement because your intestines respond to the inflammation by shutting down. If you are having these symptoms, you need to consult at the er immediately.
