A member asked:

Am 27, my father and all my paternal uncles have diabetes. what are my chances of getting it and how can i avoid the same?

Clean livin': Presumably they all have type 2 diabetes. The tendency for type 2 diabetes is strongly inherited. You can't change your parents, but you can exercise, eat well, keep your weight as close to normal as possible. Heart health is also part of this. You may get diabetes eventually, but with healthy living you may delay it to late in life. That's a lot better than getting it at 45.
