Monoclonal Antibody: A monoclonal antibody refers to an antibody produced by one line of your white cells - the plasma cell. Monoclonal means that a single cell has divided numerous times and is producing excess amounts of the immunoglobulin (immune antibody, part of your bodies natural defense system). Excess production can be benign or signify a plasma cell dyscrasia. Consult a hematologist if you haven't already.

Spike: You probably have either a monoclonal gammopathy of uncertain significance, which is a non-problem but has perhaps a 1% chance per year of turning into plasma cell ("multiple") myeloma, or myeloma itself. You need to get with your physician and find out which. Good luck.
