Individualize: On the whole, steroid injections into keloids are safe. There are recognized risks and expected side effects. Best to ask you injector what to expect in your case.

Generally safe: Theses re typically performed over a 3 sessions spaced 3-4 weeks apart. Risks are related to overcorrection with flattening or depression or widening of the scar, loss of pigment, and spider veins. People usually benefit from this trial and do not usually need it forever. In that instance scar revision or other modalities may be used.
