Need to get it out: If you are not able to remove the tampon you will need to ask for help. If left in for too long it can lead to a local or more generalized infection. Toxic shock syndrome is a generalized infection that is very serious and can be fatal if not treated. This will not happen immediately but do not delay in seeking treatment.
