To clarify my question from the other day. my neurologist had ordered a blood test called a sensorimotor neuropathy profile-complete. what is this & what is he lookingfor?

Cause of neuropathy: Diagnose the disease causing the neuropathy ie. Hu paraneoplastic syndrome, anti-gm1 motor neuropathy, anti-mag neuropathy, anti-sulfatide neuropathy, sensorimotor neuropathy. Elisa & western blot confirmation methods are used to detect of anti-mag & anti-sgpg antibodies such as anti-gm1, anti-gd1b, anti-asialo gm1, anti-gq1b and anti-sulfatide antibodies by elisa; and anti-hu antibodies.

Many things needs : He is looking for anti-gd1b is predominantly found in sensory-motor neuropathy. The new gm1, gd1b & gq1b igg and igm panel also tested to evaluate various causes of neuropathy. Elevated antibody levels to ganglioside-monosialic acid (gm1) have been associated with motor neuropathy. • anti-gm1 may occur asigm (polyclonal or monoclonal) or igg antibodies.• anti-gm1 antibodies may also be found in.
