Why does the back of my tonsil smells?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Tonsil stones: Over time, tonsils form pits in the surface of the tonsil referred to as crypts. A combination of food and mucous conglomerate together in this crypt and form a tonsil stone (tonsillith). Tonsil stones are typically putrid in odor. Nonsurgical treatment would be spraying the tonsils with a water pik twice daily. In extreme cases i suggest a tonsillectomy to my patients.
