Strep throat: My first thought about the symptoms of white patches on the tonsils and bad breath is strep throat. There are other causes of tonsillar white patches such as mono and even thrush, a fungal infection. Strep throat needs antibiotic to be cured. See your doctor for confirmation and treatment.
