A member asked:

Recently was diagnosed with a 2.2 cm multinodular goiter on the right lobe of my thyroid. does your thyroid affect the immune system?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Autoimmune diseases: A goiter does not make you more susceptible to infections, if that is your question. But a common cause of goiter is hashimoto's thyroiditis, which is an autoimmune dysfunction of your thyroid. In most people with hashimotos, only the thyroid is affected.
