Husband and i are trying to conceive. i am healthy and not on any meds but he is (adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) 40mg). are there risks of birth defects due to his meds?

Unlikely: Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) is classified as class c for pregnancy. Pregnant mice give Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) have some changes in brain chemistry, but this has not been shown in humans. While if you were the one taking Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) you might consider stopping. The risk from dad should be minimal.

Nope.: Dad's Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) has nothing to do with teratogenicity risk for the resulting embryo. The reason for the medication, though, may be inherited and your offspring may be at increased risk for adhd. Take Folic Acid 1-5 mg daily and best of luck!
