Gingivitis: Bleeding from the gums is common when brushing. This can be due to gingivitis, or from brushing too vigorously. See your dentist to see if you do have gingivitis, or if you just need to change your brushing technique.

Gum inflammation: Gingival(gum) infection or inflammation is the usual cause. Remedies include regular dental visits for cleaning and regular dental hygiene with brushing, flossing, and a healthy diet. Many people with silent reflux or diabetes are affected with this condition.
