That depends: Was it swollen before the extraction? If so then this is probably normal. Slight pain is also definitely normal. Are you on an antibiotic? If so the swelling should improve. If this condition persists or becomes worse contact the doctor who treated you

Yes: Control swelling is a natural response of your healing proscess. The area will swell lightly since we have a recruitment (chemotaxis) of all the inflammatory mediators and the cytokine complexes to begin the healing process (vascular genesis, tissue phagocytosis and endocytosis, inflammatory responses, etc). Upon extraction, antibiotics, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory meds should be given.

Yes: The body's response to any trauma is swelling. You can't heal without it. Excessive swelling after a period of time may signal infection. If you have any questions, consult your surgeon!

Normal: It's only been 4 days since surgery. Yes, slight swelling & discomfort at day 4 is normal. If you are even the slightest bit concerned, see your Surgeon for a post-surgical reevaluation.
