A member asked:

What kind of injuries would result if you put a former ballet dancer in stability shoes for running?

Nothing: Most of the time nothing will happen. Tendonitis or stress fracture can occur sometimes when the foot stays locked up in a stable shoe.

Hi Hope: The answer would depend on the foot type. Hypermobile feet (flat) should be in stability shoes, but rigid (high arched) feet are better off in cushioned shoes for running. However, a ballet dancer should become acclimated to stability shoes gradually, as he/she would be used to a less rigid shoe. Failure to break the shoe in gradually may result in injuries like fasciitis, stress fractures, etc.
