Many possibilities: There are many possibilities including a cyst that could cause this discomfort. The area surrounds the ovaries, tubes, depending on the side the appendix, the bowel, et cetera. You are young and unlikely to have other types of problems including diverticulosis/diverticulitis which also create similar types of discomfort. Ovulation is probably one of the most common sources of such pain.
