Medication effects on lung function tests.: Yes it can. Prednisone decreases inflammation in the lung and breathing treatments usually involve the incorporation of medications which make your bronchial tubes in the lung wider and with less tube spasm so the air you breath can flow in and out easier. Pulmonary function studies involve measuring how the air you breath flows in and out of the lung as well as how what comes in and out of the lung is distributed to and from the body. Pulmonary function tests are used to monitor how you do on and off medications affecting how well your lung works under any given circumstance.

Yes: It depends on which pulmonary testing you are referring to. If you are going to get pulmonary function test and are currently on Albuterol or other breathing treatments and you do not give yourself an adequate time off of these medications prior to your pulmonary function testing, it can affect the results.

Lung function tests: To do a complete lung work up, one would do a lung exam, lung function tests, chest xray and possibly blood tests. Lung function tests should be performed at your baseline to get the most diagnostic value. Lung infections, asthma, Copd exacerbations and the medications used to treat them can affect lung function test results. Its best to wait until you are back on your regular meds.
