Any tips on stimulating the adrenals? i'm on a slow tapering regimen after long term steroid use for crohn's and it isn't working.

Tapers: The slower the taper, the slower the recovery. Tapers have 2 purposes: 1. The safety with regard to body needs for adrenal hormone 2. Patient comfort. In order to get a natural recovery, you may need feel fatigued for a period of time. It is only in the presence of a need for adrenal hormone will the pituitary start producing acth in order to stimulate the adrenals to work again.

Sorry, but no: The only way to stimulate the adrenals is to have insufficient levels. There's no rx or health-food supplement which will help. Your response to insufficient levels can be temporarily or permanently blunted or even abolished by long term and high dose steroids. Taper slowly under the watchful eye of your physician.
