Chronic constipation: You're right - not normal stools for a little girl, and if ignored, can lead to long term bowel problems and her soiling herself when she loses the sensation that she even has to go. The color doesn't bother me too much, but the chronically hard is not good. Start by really, really increasing fiber, water intake and limiting dairy. If these things don't work, talk to doc about meds to soften.

Question is: How long has this been going on ? If it had been awhile , you need to be very aggressive initially then do maintenance. You can start off with magnesium citrate day or two and then put her on MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) -1 capful per day( use the top cover- cap for measuring).Take it everyday as directed. You need to make appointment with pediatrician, may need referral to gastroenterologist . Also drink lots water.
