Support: Talk to your child and coach them through it. Work with your surgeon to allay any anxiety your child is experiencing. If your calm and relaxed it will help your child be calm.

Surgery in children: The psychological preparation is the most important part. Explain to him/her in non threatening terms the whole process and emphasize that there will be little to no pain. Offer a reward for after surgery as well. Medically speaking no special preparation is needed, just avoid any Aspirin or Motrin as it increases the risk of bleeding during surgerey.
