Scratch marks: It can be scratch marks. The infants have a tendency to scratch themselves. The mittens can help to prevent it.

Dermatographia can : Occur in infants who have a strong family history of allergies. The red welts or "wheals" from a light scratch or pressure, e.g., from the seams of snug clothing or a parent's hands, don't cause health problems, but preschools may report handprint marks as child abuse. Mittens with drawstrings can cut off blood circulation; they also impede fine motor development. Cut her fingernails instead.
