NSAIDS: Nsaids like advil/motrin/ibuprofen are great for treating menstrual cramps. These are over the counter and are pretty inexpensive. Some people can't take these medications, so check with your doctor to see if these medications are safe for you to take.

Cramps: NSAID’s, SSRI’s, hormone meds, OTC meds containing diuretics, warm bath, heating pad, exercise & acupuncture are excellent for PMS / period. Avoid caffeine, chocolate, alcohol & salt. Get GYN eval to R/O underlying pathology. Consider omega- 3 fatty acids, magnesium (supplementation or through diet) or Black Cohosh with dr ok. Sipping Chamomile can dissipate pain. Ginger helps w nausea.

Natural remedies: If you desire non-medication approaches you can discuss use of a traditional herbal like black cohosh with your doctor. Chamomile tea can be soothing. Sipping green tea can also help to dissipate pain. A small amount of essential oil massaged onto the abdomen can be calming. Consider lavender, rosemary or sage.
