What can I expect at my baby's pediatrician appointments?

Dr. Anatoly Belilovsky
Pediatrics 35 years experience
Age-related: You should expect being asked about your child's history and feeding, your concerns and plans; a physical exam including measurements (child should be undressed for that); your answers (even some you didn't ask) should be answered; and certain other actions (tests, immunizations, etc) will be discussed, and possibly done, as appropriate.

If i'm referred to a neonatologist, should I still continue with my pediatrician?

4 doctor answers10 doctors weighed in
Dr. Sheila Goodman
Specializes in Obstetrics and Gynecology
Yes: Normally a neonatologist will only take care of your baby within the first few months of life, and mainly only while your baby is in the hospital. If your baby has severe health problems, the neonatologist may recommend continuing care by a specialist but your pediatrician will probably be able to assume care.

How often does encephalitis cause such damage that speech and physical therapy is needed?

Dr. Pavel Conovalciuc
Family Medicine 23 years experience
Depends: It depends on the cause of encephalitis, its severity, location and timing of intervention. If the areas of the brain that are responsible for speech and limb movements are involved, there will be deficits that will require speech and physical therapy started.
A 36-year-old member asked:

When can I start driving after ACL reconstruction and when does physical therapy start?

2 doctor answers6 doctors weighed in
Dr. Thomas Deberardino
Orthopedic Surgery 32 years experience
Laws vary by state: Always discuss postoperative activity allowances with your surgeon. Many states have basic impaired driver laws to help guide this decision. Several basic parameters can help. You should be off daytime narcotics, able to safely and efficiently enter/exit the vehicle, and your reaction times to move your foot from gas to brake pedal should be normalized. Right knee surgery will require more time.
