A member asked:

My 14 yr old daughter has a large cyst on her right breast. an ultrasound was performed to confirm. should this be aspirated?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pain or enlargement?: The most critical thing here is to confirm that the breast mass is, in fact, a cyst - generally, a benign fluid-filled lump. You can aspirate it, and it will make the cyst collapse. It will likely return periodically, however, unless the cyst membrane is removed. Sometimes these are removed if there is pain associated with the cyst - or if it is enlarging. Lgromkomd.
