Abscess: An abscess is a collection of pus in the body. Signs would include, swelling, redness, pain, and possible drainage. If you are concerned, i would advise you to see a podiatrist. Bad infections can require antibiotics.

Many possibilities: Possible signs of having an infected ingrown nail may include: pain increased redness, swelling, bleeding, tightness or drainage at the nail margins. If pain does not improve, or you develop signs of infection, get it evaluated by a professional.
