Let me explain: There are no lymph nodes in front of the knee; there are some behind the knee. If your problem in the front most likely those are superficial phlebitis. (treat with warm soaks and motrin) if your problem behind the knee, this could be some infection in the foot and between the toes.

Unusual: Generally infrageniculate lymph nodes are not palpable. So if these are nodes and palpable there is a cause which needs to be found. Infection and nodes responding, lymph problem, neoplasm or something else. See pcp and followup.
