Malignant hypertherm: Certain individuals have a genetic abnormality that causes them to develop high body temperature, rigid muscles, rapid heart rate, and high blood pressure when exposed to certain medications. This condition can be life threatening and certain kinds of medications should be avoided. If you have surgery, let your anesthesiologist know about this issue. A muscle biopsy can be used to diagnose this.
