Suggest other Rx: Mineral oil is a poor choice for a laxative for most people. It's likely simply to be passed as oil, around hard stool that remind behind. It's dangerous if it accidentally finds its way into the lungs. Milk of magnesia (magnesium hydroxide) or something similar is a much better choice. We're always learning & probably no damage has been done.

Possibly: Mineral oil was once commonly used for constipation to the point we had a chocolate flavored product. Unfortunately, it binds many dietary vitamins & when used often produced seepage.Today we rely more on wetting agents like MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) or its generic equivalent.I haven't recommended mineral oil in 2 decades.
