Weight gain: You need to see a gyn, be examined and have an ultrasound (us) of your uterus ordered. If you do have a fibroid there that is large, you can opt to have it surgically removed, if you want no more children, or have it embolized by a radiologist to cut off its blood flow. If there is no fibroid present, you will need to have an abdominal us to see if you have fluid in your abdomen, ascites.

See a GYN for exam.: Anyone can get a uterine fibroid, which is an overgrowth of muscle cells in the shape of a ball. Like moles on the skin, they come in different sizes/shapes; RARELY cancerous. You only need surgery if you have symptoms like pain/pressure/incontinence/bleeding/bloating. Size/location don't matter. Lupron (leuprolide) or embolization are ways to control w/out surgery. US follow up is very important.
