A member asked:

What gynecology conditions can a ct scan miss that would cause an acute severe pain + nausea for a week?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Ovarian torsion/Endo: Early endometriosis/adenomyosis ; a condition wherein endometrial cells ( the same cells which line the uterine cavity & cause the menstrual period) implant in the pelvis. These cells involve the uterus, tubes, ovaries and the intervening tissue to produce severe pain even when early and not detectable on ultra-sound, ct or mri. Also ovarian torsion ( twisting of the stalk) can cause such pain.
