Treat symptoms: Coughing clears the lungs of mucous so it may not be wise to suppress it. Hydrate, humidifiers, guaiafenesin can help. Honey if over 1 year old is just as good as dextromethorphin. Avoid antihistamines as they may thicken the mucous making it harder to clear. If there is wheezing consider asthma or barking cough then possible croup which may need exam. Whooping or short of breath then emergenc.

Unfortunately not : Much medicines are available for infants. Mostly supportive treatment and close monitoring only. You may want to sit your baby upright to help release pressure from the ears along with sucking a pacifier . Let your baby sleep in a car seat for better comfort. Back to your pediatrician if condition worsens, wheezing, not eating or wetting diapers , persistent fever , in distress etc.
