Treatment: Unfortunately, if you have a family history of varicose veins, there is little you can do to avoid getting them. Wearing compression stockings has been shown to help in some studies, as has avoiding standing for long periods of time. Exercise probably helps. The best thing to do is to see a vein specialist and get an evaluation. The best avoidance for varicose veins is treatment.

Compression Therapy: You should seek a vein specialist. They can workup to see how well your veins are working. You might have venous reflux which can be the cause of varicose veins. There are ways to treat varicose veins but typically the first treatment is compression stockings prescription strength and depending on if you have venous reflux other treatments can be added. Examples are ablation, sclero or phlebectomy.

Varicose veins: Unfortunately, no way to avoid varicose veins. If they are symptomatic suggest seeing a vein specialist. If not symptomatic, may be correctable but would likely not be covered by insurance. Before any treatment would suggest ultrasound to look for cause of the problem.

Varicose veins: small vv are more common in women due to hormonal changes,really hard to avoid but perhaps increasing bioflavinoids in your dietn as they strengthen blood vessel walls larger veins may be helped by use of support hose
