No links: No ma'am. Docs ask about all sorts of things, but it's always good to find ways to lessen loneliness and depression.

Social history: Generally speaking allergists ask social background questions to determine your environmental exposure to allergens and hence triggering factors for your symptoms. All doctors ask about questions about medications you are taking, no matter what disease state it is. There is no correlation between allergies and depression but allergies can affect your quality of life.

Likely not: Doctors want to ask general questions we call review of systems. These are questions that deal with every system or organ . This is done to know the general health status of the patient so we don't miss anything. Also something's that seem unrelated to the patient may be related. We can also refer to this data base in the future if the patient is sick with a different illness.

The "link" is YOU: In ideal circumstances, physicians want to know the person experiencing the illness currently being treated. Also, depression & loneliness can influence immune system activity, which does impact allergic response. The "link" here is that you are the person in whom all this is happening, and you are a whole (not partial) being. I'm glad you have a doctor who attends to you in this way.
