Nasal allergy: Post-nasal drip from pure nasal allergy typically does not cause a sore throat. Pain comes from inflammatory chemical medicators released by the immune system as it fights infection. Pn-drip that causes a sore throat is highly suggestive of a sinus infection; which may be why allergy medications are not working.
