Further workup: You should see a foot/ankle specialist to start. Mri will determine condition of heel bone and the attached plantar fascia. It will also evaluate the tarsal tunnel where the main nerve to your heel and foot runs. A visit to a neurologist may be necessary to do nerve testing. Some cases of plantar fasciitis have an impingement on baxter's nerve.Recurrent stress fractures may require metabolic test.
