A member asked:

Is tsh the best test to find out if your having thyroid problems? mine tested 2.0 and 1.78 but my neck always feels "thick" along with other hypo symp

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Thyroid function: Hypothyroid symptoms are often not-specific and can overlap with symptoms from other disorders. Tsh elevation is normally seen in patients with an underactive thyroid who have goiter. Normal TSH can be seen in patients with pituitary dysfunction leading to hypothryoidism, but goiter not part of that. Neck thickness likely due to something else if TSH is ok. Please discuss symptoms with your doc.
